I see you are keeping busy. Did you get the Bernina 580 Liberty? If you did you will have that embroidery feature. My current machine is a Bernina Aurora 440QE, it is not even listed on their site since I have had it for quite a few years now. I also have my first mechanical Bernina that I use when the other is in the shop.

Sounds like a productive couple of weeks. Hope the shot ache wears off fast for you; at least the tetanus is not a yearly shot.

Test blocks are always a good idea, especially with SKoW patterns. I need to get going with mine in preparation for Starry Night. I’ve decided not to sew along, but I still need to be able to make a flawless demo.

Nancy, I feel the same way about binding.

Nancy, I hear many people say that. I guess I just have too many irons in the fire at a time. I really enjoy piecing. I enjoy seeing the blocks pile up. Those final steps, borders and binding, feel like a roadblock to moving on to the next thing. Maybe when I stop working at the store my brain will be able to settle into enjoying the whole process.

Sounds like you will be aging in place. I know the stair lift chair installed for my husband after his stroke was a blessing for us, and then for me following my recent surgeries. Moving to a larger sewing studio sounds wonderful!

Back in the sewing room again. We decided to modify our house and stay here – too many delays and stumbling blocks to building. The chair lift is in, and the washer/dryer have been moved to the main floor.

I am also looking forward to seeing your Sunflower table runner. Fall and sunflowers just seem to go together.

I guess I am your opposite, as I don’t mind doing the bindings. I still sew most of them to the front by machine (even my hand pieced projects get this step), then sew them by hand to the back. I find that time to be contemplative as well as a wonderful reminder that another quilt project has been completed.

I’ve only worked on a couple of projects this week:

Block Swap sample made, paperwork done. Registration opens Wednesday.

Sewcialites: all blocks are done. Rows are sewn. Needs pressing before sewing together.

Ohhhh! I look forward to seeing your Sunflower project. I love sunflowers and Sew Kind of Wonderful projects. I’m still deciding if, or how much of, the Starry Night quilt I will sew along with my class next month. I don ‘t know about this being a “ber” month, as we have had temps in the upper 90s and low 100s so far every day this month!
