Have fun with this 12-part “Over the Rainbow Patchwork Challenge”!
Each part, you will be presented with a new block. The challenge? You will not receive fabric requirements because each block can be made with scrap fabrics you have on hand. Also, you will decide what you will make with the finished blocks – again, no fabric requirements, because on the way or at the end, each quilter will decide on the size and type of their finished project(s). You may wish to make more than one!
You can make tote bags, table toppers, table runners, wall hangings, baby or child-size quilts, lap or throw quilts, or even a bed-sized quilt. It will be up to you. General directions for finishing a quilt will be included. All the blocks will be 12″ finished squares. For many of the blocks, we will also provide templates for 14″ and 16″ finished blocks, and at least one will be a paper-pieced pattern. Make one project or several along the way. Accept the challenge and join the fun!

Join us as we challenge ourselves to think outside the box in creating dynamic 9-Patch blocks..
Foundation paper piecing (FPP) templates will be provided with which you can design 9-Patch blocks in 12″ finished sizes. For some of the blocks there will be information for patchwork piecing. Part of this challenge is deciding how to make your blocks, so there will be no fabric requirements. You can choose your preferred methods to make them.
There are a total of 30 units. The design possibilities are just about limitless.

When I first discovered quilting I was drawn to Baltimore Album quilts. There is so much detail in them that I knew they must have spent years in the making. I then realized that we needed a Baltimore Album pattern for beginning appliquérs. Simple Yet Elegant was born.
Use your favorite appliqué technique.

Harlequin (adjective): in varied colors, many hued, rainbow like . . .
The name Harlequin comes from the use of many different colors of fabrics pulled from my stash of solid yardage and scraps remaining from other projects. For example, the color blue appears five different times in the quilt, but each blue is a slightly different hue since it was made from a different piece of blue fabric. Even the white tone-on-tone fabrics are different since I did not have enough yardage left from the scraps I had used earlier.
